Air France-KLM to present Alitalia binding offer March 13-14 - trade unions

Analysis

Milan (Thomson Financial) - Air France-KLM will present a binding offer for Alitalia SpA on March 13 or 14, trade union officials said, citing Alitalia chairman Maurizio Prato during a meeting between him and unions.

Prato told union representatives the French airline is looking to agree solutions with the Italian government and unions on job cuts at the Italian flag carrier, they said. Air France-KLM sources have previously said the airline has a March 14 deadline to file an offer for the Italian state's 49.9 pct stake in Alitalia. Air France-KLM and Alitalia are due to complete eight weeks of exclusive talks on that date on a re-launch of the airline and merger of the two airlines.
