About

Headquartered in Minneapolis, Navitaire employs more than 750 people worldwide, with additional offices in Salt Lake City, Austin, Sydney, Manila, London and Prague. Navitaire's roots began in 1993 as PRA Solutions, offering revenue accounting and revenue protection solutions to major carriers. Subsequently, PRA Solutions developed the via World Network direct distribution technology as an alternative to GDS systems and then acquired the Open Skies airline reservation division of Hewlett-Packard in 2000. In 2001, the company changed its name to Navitaire. Navitaire was a subsidiary of Accenture. Amadeus completed the acquisition of Navitaire on 26-Jan-2016, after the European Commission affirmed the deal had not breached EU merger regulations. Amadeus has stated 'New Skies' customers will not be required to enter a new GDS contract. The major aviation IT company aims to retain the brand, solution, and the related/integrated components of Navitaire’s 'New Skies' reservation system, regardless of NDC standards. According to Amadeus, the merger will complement Altea suite of offerings and give it the ability to serve a wider group of airlines. The two product portfolios, Altea and New Skies, will be marketed and sold separately. An alliance will be established with Accenture, with the later designated as an Amadeus “Strategic Partner” for its Airline IT business for management consulting, technology consulting, systems integration, business process outsourcing and digital services, complementing Amadeus’ existing in-house consulting and digital services.
