This small island located in the east of the Caribbean Sea is an overseas region (department) of France. Martinique has two airports, the main being - Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport (FDF), formally known as Lamentin International Airport, is served by a number of airlines including Air Caraïbes, Air France and Air Antilles Express as well as Corsairfly, LIAT and American Airlines’ subsidiary American Eagle. Although Martinique does not have a national carrier, Air Caraibes operates the majority of flights. Martinique does not have its own aviation authority and thus Direction Generale De L’Aviation Civile is responsible for regulating and overseeing the aviation industry in the island.
