Air Greenland is the only carrier operating within Greenland. The main international gateway to Greenland is Kangerlussuaq Airport, while Nuuk Airport and Ilulissat Airport are the major domestic airports. The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation Greenland is the aviation regulator.

Air France has announced plans to move away from its Paris-centric strategy and moved into regional French market in a bid to counter the growing threat of low-cost carriers in its home market, which remains one of Europe’s few remaining spaces for growth in the sector.

European airlines are showing signs of yield improvement, particularly among the UK and Continental European carriers. The Nordic market appears to be stabilising, albeit at weak yield levels. Overall, the outlook remains uncertain.

The far-reaching pruning of SAS into its core activity spells a new and potentially profitable airline. It is unlikely still to be able to stand alone, but the residue might just be tasty enough now for Lufthansa to include in its multi-flavoured recipe for European domination.
