About

Helsinki-Malmi Airport is located approximately 13 kilometres northeast of the Finnish capital of Helsinki. Malmi was Helsinki's primary international airport until the opening of Helsinki-Vantaa in 1952. The facility is the only uncoordinated airport in the region, with the next closest being Turku Airport, approximately 150 kilometres to the west. Malmi is now entirely devoted to handling general aviation aircraft and is a busy base for flying schools, charter operators and elements of the Finnish Border Guard. Helsinki-Malmi Airport is managed by Finavia. The airport operator transferred Helsinki-Malmi Airport to the City of Helsinki from 01-Jun-2017.
