VECA Airlines (Vuelos Económicos Centroamericanos SA) is a new Salvadorean LCC start-up to be based at San Salvador Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport. The carrier plans to launch services in 2H2014 to Guatemala City and San José Juan Santamaría, Costa Rica. VECA has reportedly received USD14 million in investment capital from Alba Petroleos, a Venezuelan energy company part-owned by the Government of Venezuela. The start-up will reportedly commence initial services with two leased Airbus A319s.
