Sólyom Hungarian Airways
Sólyom Hungarian Airways was a Hungarian start-up, which plans to commence service in Hungary with six aircraft in Aug-2013. The carrier had ambitious growth plans, as it seeked to expand its fleet to around 50 aircraft by 2017. The carrier, while positioning itself as the new national airline and successor to former flag carrier Malév Hungarian Airlines, did not have state involvement, with reports that it planned to have Middle East investors. The carrier expected to handle around eight million passengers by 2017.
Update 21-Oct-2013: Sólyom Hungarian Airways has reportedly suspended operations after it failed to agree on terms with its investors. CEO József Vágó said that a contract with a potential Oman-based investor had not been finalised leading to the airline's cash shortage.
