About

Originally established on 01-May-1947 (as Malayan Airways) Singapore Airlines, the flagship airline of the Singapore Airlines Group, is the parent company to a number of full-service and low-cost airlines as well as other aviation-related businesses worldwide. The group is headquartered on the grounds of Changi International Airport and is listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX: C6L). The Singaporean Government's investment arm, Temasek Holdings hold majority ownership (54.5%) of the group. 

Singapore Airlines Group wholly-owned and majority-owned airline subsidiaries include:

  • Silk Air (100%, since 1989. Ceased Sep-2021)
  • Singapore Airlines Cargo (100%, since 2001 - became a division of Singapore Airlines on 01-Apr-2018)
  • Budget Aviation Holdings (100%)
    • Tiger Airways Holdings, trading as Scoot as of 25-Jul-2017 following Tigerair and Scoot merger (100%, since Mar-2016)

Minority airline subsidiaries include:

  • Vistara (49% since 2013)

Other subsidiaries include:

On 29-Nov-2022, Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Tata Sons (Tata) agreed to merge Air India and Vistara, with SIA also investing INR 20,585 million in Air India as part of the transaction. This gives SIA a 25.1% stake in an enlarged Air India group. SIA and Tata aim to complete the merger by Mar-2024, subject to regulatory approvals.
