Xiamen's new airport will be constructed on reclaimed land near Dadeng Island in Xiang’an District (What's on Xiamen/Xiamen Daily, 08-Jul-2011). The new airport will have four 3800m runways. The airport, to be constructed on an area of 25sqkm, is scheduled to open in 2019. Two out of the four runways will be constructed by 2030 to serve 45 million passengers p/a, and the other two will be completed by 2040 to serve an annual passenger turnover of 70-75 million.

Suddenly, Cuba is ‘open for business’ in the eyes of the western world, but that might not quite be the case. There is a long way ahead and there is a lot to be done, with no guarantees.
