Xiamen's new airport to have four runways by 2040 to handle up to 75 million passengers p/a

Xiamen's new airport will be constructed on reclaimed land near Dadeng Island in Xiang'an District (What's on Xiamen/Xiamen Daily, 08-Jul-2011). The new airport will have four 3800m runways. The airport, to be constructed on an area of 25sqkm, is scheduled to open in 2019. Two out of the four runways will be constructed by 2030 to serve 45 million passengers p/a, and the other two will be completed by 2040 to serve an annual passenger turnover of 70-75 million.
