US ATM upgrade to cost USD330m more

US Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) deputy administrator Michael Huerta stated Lockheed Martin Co's air-traffic upgrade will cost USD330 million more and take three more years to complete after flaws were detected during the system's first activation on 14-Mar-2010 (Business Times, 10-Jan-2011). Replacement of computers at 20 centres was supposed to be completed in fiscal 2011 at a cost of USD2.1 billion. The agency instead will spend USD2.43 billion and retire the old computer system in fiscal 2014.
