US Airways pax numbers down -0.8%; Trans-Atlantic up 12.9%; PRASM reduces by 10%

US Airways passenger numbers down -0.8% - consolidated traffic highlights in Oct-2009:

  • Passenger numbers: 4.7 million, -0.8% year-on-year;
    • Domestic: 3.7 million, -3.3%;
    • Trans-Atlantic: 786,348, +12.9%;
    • Latin America: 185,395, +0.5%;
  • Load factor: 82.6%, +0.7 ppts;
    • Domestic: 82.9%, +0.1 ppts,
    • Trans-Atlantic: 82.2%, +5.4 ppts,
    • Latin America: 78.4%, -3.8 ppts;
  • Passenger revenue per ASM: -10%;
  • Revenue per ASM: -9%.[more]

US Airways: "Our October consolidated (mainline and Express) passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) decreased approximately 10 percent versus the same period last year while total revenue per available seat mile decreased approximately 9 percent on a year-over-year basis.
