United Airlines: China 'going to be a very big part' of trans-Pacific capacity expansion

United Airlines senior VP financial planning and analysis John Gebo, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, said (08-Aug-2013) "trans-pac is tremendously important to United's network," with the carrier maintaining "very strong trans-pac gateways" at Los Angeles and San Francisco. Mr Gebo added the carrier's order book will allow the carrier to grow its trans-Pacific capacity over time, adding "China is going to be a very big part of that." Mr Gebo said China is "clearly an enormous market and one in which there is going to be tremendous opportunity going forward," but added "we have to be pragmatic."
