Uncertainty exists regarding 2H2011: Cathay Pacific CEO

Cathay Pacific CEO John Slosar stated, in the Aug-2011 edition of staff magazine CX World, the current "financial and economic whirlwind" is a "stark reminder that we can't take anything for granted". He added the carrier's 1H2011 results were, outside of 2010, the "best interim result in 10 years". He noted there is "uncertainty around, and right now it's unclear how the second half of 2011 will pan out". Meanwhile the carrier's chairman, Christopher Pratt said (in the same edition): "I don't think anybody realistically expected a repeat of last year's phenomenal performance and I would suggest that [the 2011 results] reflect a return to what I might call a standard Cathay Pacific year in which business is generally stronger in the second half than it is in the first".
