UK CAA targets laser crime

UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced (01-Mar-2011 ) the launch of a campaign to raise awareness amongst law enforcement bodies of "laser crime" against aircraft. In 2010, there were more than 1400 recorded laser attacks on aircraft, a 100% increase on the previous year. The CAA stated that most of the attacks happened near large regional airports, with aircraft on final approach targetted from nearby streets and open spaces. [more]
