Turkish Airlines confirms Australian plans next summer

Turkish Airlines confirmed (08-Jun-2010) to CAPA on the sidelines of the IATA AGM in Berlin that it will be commencing services to Australia in summer 2011, most probably on the Istanbul Ataturk-Jakarta-Sydney route. Turkish serves Jakarta via Singapore but these will be split with Turkish to serve Jakarta separately, extending the service to Sydney. The carrier is seeking additional wet-leased aircraft and could add up to four more A330s this summer. Turkish aims to handle 31 million passengers this year.
