TUI Group transfers order for two 787-8s to 787-9, to order two further 787-9s

TUI Group announced (13-May-2015) plans to transfer two orders for Boeing 787-8 aircraft to 787-9s, with the company also planning to acquire "up to two further 787-9 positions for delivery prior to summer 2019." TUI Group stated: "This offers the Group incremental long-haul growth opportunities. The decision is based on our strategy of enhancing customer experience, improving environmental efficiencies and delivering on our merger growth plans. We will serve our customers with a fleet of 13 787-8s by summer 2015 and are expecting delivery of up to 4 further 787-9s by Summer 2019." According to the CAPA Fleet Database, TUI Group carriers operate a fleet of 12 787-8s, with three further aircraft scheduled for delivery in Aug-2015, Feb-2016 and Jul-2016 respectively.
