Travelport: Ancillaries important for both airlines and agents

Travelport head of global supplier strategy Ian Heywood, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, stated (08-Aug-2013) Travelport is investing in a merchandising platform designed to fill a hole missing from GDS', involving increased flexibility regarding ancillary revenues. He noted not only are ancillary revenues important for airlines, but for agents, who are able to sell the ancillary products. He explained the need to get ancillary content from airlines to the agent without making the process less efficient, while simultaneously making the products available for passengers to see.
