Trains transport more passengers between Madrid and Barcelona than airlines in 3Q2009
Spain's high-speed AVE rail link handled more passengers between Madrid and Barcelona in 3Q2009 than did the airlines, with 651,498 rail passengers, a 21% year-on-year increase (The Times, 02-Nov-2009). Comparatively, 643,512 passenger travelled by airline, a 7.5% year-on-year reduction.
