Taiwan's airlines lower fares on cross-Strait services at the request of government

China Airlines stated Economy Class fares on cross-Strait services to Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou have been reduced by up to 20% at the request of Taiwan's Ministry of Transportation and Communications, effective 16-Apr-2010 (China News, 08-Apr-2010). TransAsia Airways will reduce its fares on direct services between Taipei Taichung to Shanghai by 20% from 16-Apr-2010 (Taipei Times, 09-Apr-2010). EVA Air stated it would reduce prices by 11-20%, also from 16-Apr-2010. Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) stated it expects the other airlines, including Mandarin Airlines and Uni Airways to follow suit.
