Sydney's second airport should be Canberra: airport MD

Australia's Canberra Airport Managing Director Stephen Byron stated "Australian Federal and NSW governments should abandon hope of building a second main airport in the Sydney basin and upgrade Canberra's airport instead, linking the two cities with a high-speed rail link" (Sydney Morning Herald, 01-Sep-2010). Mr Byron said later that a rail link would be vital infrastructure within 20 years. An AUD350 million (USD314 million) upgrade to Canberra Airport is expected to be opened in the next five weeks.
