Spain freezes airport charges until 2025, approves new regulatory framework

Spain's Council of Ministers approved (04-Jul-2014) the freezing of airport charges in Spain until 2025 as well as a new regulatory framework for Spanish airports to guarantee service quality and strengthen the competitiveness and development of the aviation sector. Spain's Development Ministry added the measures reflects the stability airport operator AENA has been able to achieve over the past three years. Air Europa chairman Juan José Hidalgo welcomed the freeze, who said it "gives peace of mind to airlines when planning activities, will have positive impacts on consumers and will have very beneficial effects on tourism.
