Sichuan Airlines to launch Chengdu-Paris in Jun-2013, Melbourne service postponed to Feb-2013

Sichuan Airlines received approval to operate between Chengdu and Paris and the carrier plans to launch the service possibly with A330 in Jun-2013, according to a WCCdaily.com report. Sichuan Airlines GM Li Haiying said the carrier is planning more international routes, although he did not disclose which routes. The carrier launched Chengdu-Saipan and Chengdu-Shenyang-Vancouver services in the past two years and is also scheduled to launch Chengdu-Melbourne service, which has reportedly been postponed from the end of this month to Feb-2013. Qatar Airways recently announced plans to launch Doha-Chengdu service while British Airways has announced plans to launch London-Chengdu service. Chengdu City Government is also in talks for a nonstop service to Frankfurt.
