Singapore Airlines sees benefit from lower fuel prices, but yields to remain under pressure in 2015

Singapore Airlines (SIA) chairman Stephen Lee said (14-Jan-2015) the reduction in fuel prices in 2H2014 is "good news" for airlines like SIA, where fuel accounts for up to 40% of the operating budget. Mr Lee said lower prices should give the carrier "some welcome respite from cost pressures" but overcapacity and battles for market share will continue to put pressure on yields in 2015.
