Satellite-based navigation system to save USD135bn p/a

Deloitte's 'Transforming the Air Transportation System - A Business Case for Programme Acceleration' study estimated that the net present value for deploying the satellite-based navigation systems programme will be approximately USD900 billion up to 2035 (Airport World, 12-May-2011). It claims that the upgrade could cut fuel consumption by three billion gallons, eliminate 29 million tonnes of carbon emissions and reduce four million hours of delay, resulting in annual global savings of USD135 billion.
