Jordan's Civil Aviation Authority cancelled the exclusive right of Royal Jordanian to operate scheduled flights to/from Jordan on 05-Feb-2010 (Petra News Agency/Jordan News Agency/AME Info, 05-Feb-2010). The eight year exclusivity deal, which was signed in 2002, aimed to boost the carrier's financial performance and its privatisation plans. Under its provisions, other Jordanian airline companies were only permitted to operate charter flights during the exclusivity period. Royal Wings and Royal Falcons are currently the only firms licensed to operate scheduled services in Jordan. Jordan's Chief of Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), Suleiman Obeidat, stated the annullment aims to encourage the carrier to rectify its operational and administrative conditions, to keep in pace with aviation liberalisation and to attract foreign investment.

Mr Trump’s positions were matched at the other end of the political spectrum – in a more palatable way – by Bernie Sanders, who also played to the populist disillusionment with Washington. The result has shifted the US' national policy fulcrum. For aviation purposes Mr Trump has said and done things that are relevant in several important areas, as outlined below. Protectionism and an erosion of free trade is a prominent risk.
