Qatar Airways to press for more destinations and frequencies in Canada

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker stated he would lobby Canadian officials for more landing rights in Canada and would like to have "as many flights to as many cities in Canada as possible" (The Canadian Press, 30-Jun-201). Mr Al Baker also said he would be willing to codeshare with Air Canada. The carrier would offer daily frequency to Montreal and at least two other Canadian cities if it had the rights. Qatar Airways launched three times weekly Doha-Montreal service earlier this week, the carrier's first Canadian destination and its fourth in North America, after Houston, New York and Washington.
