Premium traffic up 2.3% in Aug-2011 - IATA

IATA reports (17-Oct-2011) the following premium traffic growth highlights by region in Aug-2011:

• Total international: +2.3% year-on-year;
  • Within Africa: +11.7%;
  • Within Far East: +12.5%;
  • Within Middle East: -8.9%;
  • Within North America: -13.2%;
  • Within Southwest Pacific: -28.3%;

IATA: "Forward-looking indicators for air travel, particularly travel on business, continue to point to a further slowdown in the months ahead. Premium travel growth was much more aligned with international trade and business confidence in August. However, the weakness of the business confidence leading indicator suggests that there is still further decline in business and premium travel to come," Company statement, 17-Oct-2011.
