Oman Air loss narrows in 2014; aims to expand fleet to 50 aircraft by 2018, 70 by 2020

Oman Air reported (28-Mar-2015) its loss narrowed by 4% to OMR95.9 million (USD249.0 million) in 2014, despite a 4% increase in revenue to OMR398.4 million (USD1035 million). The carrier transported 5.1 million passengers, with load factor averaging 74.4%. At Muscat Airport the carrier handled 8.7 million passengers and 41,450 flights, of which 18,000 were operated by airlines other than Oman Air, resulting in an increase in total handling fees to OMR18 million (USD46.8 million). Oman Air: "Oman Air is guided by a development plan which was endorsed by the Board of Directors in 2013. This has seen our company invest significantly in new narrow-body and widebody aircraft, new destinations, technology and staff.
