Norwegian Air Shuttle pax down 8%, yield and RASM plummets in Apr-2010

Norwegian Air Shuttle passenger numbers down 8% - traffic highlights in Apr-2010:

• Passenger numbers: 791,371, -8% year-on-year;
• Load factor: 71%, -8 ppts;
• Yield: EUR 6.54 cents, -19%;

Norwegian Air Shuttle: "The yield is estimated at NOK0.51 for the period (-19 %). The y.o.y. yield development reflects an adjusted route portfolio with 5 % longer sector length and the introduction of five new 737-800 aircraft with higher capacity and lower unit cost. The yield was negatively affected by the closure of European airspace, and there is increased uncertainty related to the yield estimate from rebooking and ongoing reimbursement activities from a large number of cancelled flights," Company statement.
