Moscow Zhukovsky Airport opens

Russia's Government and Ministry of Transport announced (30-May-2016) the opening of Moscow Zhukovsky Airport (Moscow Ramenskoye Airport), following completion of phase one development work. Phase one included construction of terminal one, short and long term parking stations, expansion of the access road and reconstruction of Otdykh railway station. Ramport Aero head Thomas Vaisvila signed agreements with Air Kyrgyzstan, SCAT Airlines, Sky Gate Airlines and Master International General Trading. Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov stated the airport will be accessible from Kotelniki metro station by a bus service, Otdykh railway station by a railway service and by the M5 Ural road. The airport is capable of handling two million passenger p/a and is ready to receive full service, low cost, cargo and charter services. The airport will also provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services and act as a base for aircraft. Construction of the 17,600sqm terminal was financed by investor Avia Solutions Group and used TVK Rossiya infrastructure.
