Lufthansa sees 'strong performance' for intercontinental and freight services

Lufthansa stated it continues to expect operating profits in 2010 to increase on a year-on-year basis, due to rising demand and "very strong performance" for intercontinental air travel and freight services (Dow Jones, 28-Jun-2010). The carrier added that the "continuity of the resurgence in demand reinforces the prospects for a sustainable upswing". The carrier reported an operating profit of EUR130 million in 2009.

Lufthansa: "Despite the negative first quarter and the airspace closures in early April, the developments of the last few months have altogether strengthened the expectations of achieving a higher operating result in 2010 than last year," Company Statement. Source: Dow Jones, 28-Jun-2010.
