Lufthansa in advanced talks with Airbus and Boeing for new long-haul aircraft

Lufthansa CEO Christoph Franz said the airline is in advanced talks with Airbus and Boeing for the acquisition of new long-haul aircraft (Journal de l'Aviation/Air Journal, 03-Jun-2013). Mr Franz said the airline would consider the A350-900, A350-1000, Boeing 787-9, 777-8X, 777-9X and 777-10X aircraft. The airline expects to place an order for at least 50 aircraft by the end of 2020. The aircraft would be delivered from 2020 and would mainly replace its fleet of 24 A340-300 and 24 A340-600 aircraft.
