LOT Polish Airlines: Alliance membership and perception has evolved with experience

LOT Polish Airlines CEO Sebastian Mikosz, speaking at CAPA's Airlines in Transition Conference on 25/26-Mar-2015, stated (25-Mar-2015) the airline's perception of global alliance groups has fundamentally evolved. For the airline, the major advantages alliance membership brings are business lounge access and frequent flyer programme redemptions. The perception of size is an advantage with passengers. According to Mr Mikosz, Star Alliance is not offering joint procurement to bring in economies of scale. LOT's alliance partners are also competing with it and pushing it out of certain markets.
