Latest ticket increase fails: US carriers

United and Continental announced their latest fare increase has failed as discount carriers such as Southwest Airlines and JetBlue did not follow suit (AP, 28-Mar-2011). Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and US Airways reportedly matched the USD10 per round-trip increase in a bid to offset fuel prices. Delta and American reportedly rolled back the increase on some routes which prompted United and Continental to cancel the increase on 26-Mar-2011.
