Larnaka International Airport opens new terminal

Cyrpus' Larnaka International Airport opened its new terminal on 07-Nov-2009. The new building is significantly larger than the old terminal and now has the capacity to serve 7.5 million passengers p/a. The terminal size has increased to 100,000 sqm and a new 130,000 sqm taxiway has been built, along with a new 170,000 sqm apron. The opening of the new terminal is being completed in two phases so as not to disrupt passenger service, with Cyprus Airways and easyJet to commence operations in the new terminal on 10-Nov-2009, while all other airlines will transfer operations by 17-Nov-2009. The new terminal comprises Phase I of a major rejuvenation project occurring.Phase II will grow the terminal further to accommodate nine million passengers p/a and will extend the runway by 500 m to 3,500 m.
