Korean Air revenue down 4.9%, back in the black in 4Q2009

Korean Air revenue down 4.9% - financial/traffic highlights for the three months ended 31-Dec-2009:

  • Operating revenue: USD2,238 million, -4.9% year-on-year;
  • Operating cost: USD2,104 million, -9.9%;
    • Fuel: USD681.6 million, -22.2%;
    • Labour: USD297.0 million, +6.3%;
  • Operating profit: USD133.68 million, +580.9%;
  • Profit before tax: USD131.9 million, compared to a loss of 574.4 million in the previous corresponding period;
  • Net profit: USD106.2 million, compared to a loss of USD559.0 million in the previous corresponding period;
  • Passenger traffic (RPKs):
    • Domestic: -13.2%;
    • International: +11.3%;
  • Passenger yield:
    • Domestic: USD 15.9 cents, -9.0%;
    • International: USD 7.5 cents, -20.3%;
  • Cargo traffic (FTKs): +15.2%;
  • Cargo yield: USD 30.98 cents, +3.7%;
  • 2010 forecast:
    • Passenger traffic (RPKs): +0.5%;
    • Load factor: 71.7%, +2.5 ppts;
