Kingfisher considers moving MRO functions into separate unit

Kingfisher Airlines is reportedly exploring separating its engineering department into a separate MRO unit as part of efforts to improve its financial position (Business Standard, 17-Nov-2011). The airline is looking at "opportunity to unlock further value through spin offs", UB Group CFO Ravi Nedungadi said, adding the MRO spinoff plan "is at an exploratory stage. It is just a road map". Kingfisher employs around 1500 maintenance staff. Air India is also considering such a move.
