Kenya Airways confirms completion of voluntary redundancy programme

Kenya Airways confirmed (06-Sep-2012) the completion of its voluntary retirement programme. 126 staff elected to accept the airline's redundancy offer, which is part of a plan to reduce the company's employee cost base of KES13.4 billion (USD159.2 million) by 10-15%. Kenya Airways CEO Titus Naikuni said, "Kenya Airways’ cost base has grown disproportionately to our revenue generation. Our employee cost per person has doubled in five years due to salary increases linked to union awards and job evaluation." [more - original PR]
