Unite: BASSA members to vote for industrial action over BA's new 'bureaucratic performance scheme'

Unite the Union confirmed (18-Jul-2016) approximately 8,000 members of the British Airlines Stewards and Stewardesses Association (BASSA) will vote for "industrial action over a new 'bureaucratic' performance scheme that has prompted fears over future job losses", from 21-Jul-2016 through to 17-Aug-2016. Unite regional officer Matt Smith stated a "perfectly adequate performance management policy already exists" and the union's members have "overwhelmingly indicated" they want the new 'Dashboard' system suspended. The union is seeking "meaningful consultation, with guarantees over job security". Mr Smith stated that the Dashboard system constantly evaluates employees on a red, green, amber systems "based on a never ending continual improvement score which, we believe, eventually year-on-year will become impossible to achieve".
