Jetstar Japan transports 1.6 million pax during first year of operation, fleet expands to 13

Jetstar Japan announced (03-Jul-2013) it transported 1.6 million passengers during its first year of operation. Jetstar Japan, which launched services on 03-Jul-2012, said it increased its route network from two initially to 14 at present and expanded its fleet to 13 aircraft. Narita International Airport Corporation president Natsume Makoto said Jetstar has contributed to the steady expansion of Tokyo Narita Airport's domestic network. Other operational highlights during the carrier's first year of operation are:

  • Passenger numbers: 1.6 million;
  • Ontime performance rate: Average 83% including 93% in May-2013 and 91% in Jun-2013;
  • Number of flights: Increased from six daily initially to 70 daily;
  • Fares: Almost 500,000 passengers have purchased fares JPY5000 (USD64) and below while more than half of its passengers have purchased fares JPY8000 (USD103) and below;
  • Passenger make-up: 54% of passengers are male, 46% female;
