Jetstar Asia raises concerns about extreme overregulation

Jetstar Asia CEO Barathan Pasupathi, speaking at CAPA's Airline Fleet & Finance Summit Asia, said (02-Mar-2015) given what was happened in the last 14 to 18 months, his "biggest concern at this stage is regulators in all jurisdictions have a knee jerk reaction to what has happened in the last 18 months. pushing to a point of extreme overregulation." Mr Pasupathi noted: "Safety is the number one priority and we follow those developments closely," but added: "We've talked about aircraft and continuous flight following and who should pick up the tab… We encourage the industry dialogue with the state, regulators and airlines before costs are imposed on the airlines. don't want a knee jerk reaction where airlines suddenly find their costs balloon to an unsustainable level."
