Jetstar Asia: 'constant flux of change' in Southeast Asia requires ongoing attention

Jetstar Asia CEO Barathan Pasupathi, speaking at CAPA's Airline Fleet & Finance Summit Asia, noted (02-Mar-2015) the "constant flux of change" in Southeast Asia requires ongoing attention. Mr Pasupathi noted: "I say this because we started at Jetstar 10 years ago with the extreme LCC model… We were very focused on operations and safety and customers took a back seat. In the last three years, we invested heavily on customers and giving them memorable travel experiences." Mr Pasupathi said the model has had to evolve over time to suit the high level of service expected in a market such as Singapore: "We now have 32 codeshare and interline partners," adding: "We've driven a lot of innovation at the airport such as self-service kiosks, bag drops, mobile boarding passes which have gotten the attention of the full service carriers in Singapore who are now following suit."
