Jetstar Asia benefiting from 'difficult decisions'

Jetstar Asia CEO Barathan Pasupathi, speaking on CAPA TV, said (24-Sep-2015) the airline is benefiting from "difficult decisions" made two years ago in response to overcapacity and yield reductions in the market. The airline reduced its fleet from 19 to 18 aircraft, matched capacity to demand, focussed on cost reduction and built codeshare and interline partnerships. Despite reducing its fleet, the airline increased ASKs and capacity by increasing aircraft utilisation and increased traffic and load factors through codeshares and interline agreements.
