ICAO to help Mozambique resolve safety issues

International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) plans to provide technical assistance to the civil aviation centre in Mozambique to resolve safety issues that have all the country's carriers on the EU blacklist (Macau Hub, 30-Jun-2011). ICAO plans to prepare the country for approval at the next EU inspection in Sep-2011. At the time of the ban, the European Commission stated Mozambican carriers have a lack of legal framework to regulate aviation, no supervision of air carriers, defects in the process of certifying carriers and a reduced number of qualified technicians.
