ICAO reports 6.3% rise in 2010 pax numbers

ICAO reports (23-Dec-2010) the following preliminary traffic highlights of airlines of ICAO member states:

  • 2010:
    • Passenger numbers: 2.5 billion, +6.3% year-on-year;
    • Passenger traffic (RPKs): +8%;
    • Capacity (ASKs): +3.7%;
    • Cargo traffic: (FTKs): +18.9%. [more]

ICAO: "Based on a growth of more than 4 per cent of the world economy for the next three years, ICAO forecasts that traffic worldwide will grow at 4.7% and 4.9% for 2011 and 2012, respectively. Oil prices, currently above USD80 per barrel, higher than the 2007 average level, remains a potential impediment to growth, although this could be mitigated by the delivery of new and more fuel efficient aircraft," Source: Company statement, 23-Dec-2010.
