ICAO reports 3.1% fall in 2009 passenger traffic

ICAO reports (18-Dec-2009) the following preliminary traffic highlights airlines of Member States for 2009:

• Passenger traffic (RPKs):
  • World: -3.1% year-on-year;
  • Africa: -9.6%;
  • Asia Pacific: -1.2%;
  • Europe: -4.8%;
  • Middle East: +10%;
  • North America: -5.5%;

ICAO: "In line with the improving economic situation in many parts of the world, a moderate recovery is expected for 2010 with a 3.3 percent traffic growth forecast.
