ICAO flags ending liquids, gels and aerosols ban by 2012

ICAO Secretary General Raymond Benjamin stated the ban on liquids, gels and aerosols (LAGs) on aircraft should be lifted within two years thanks to the installation of new detection equipment (AFP, 27-Sep-2010). New security equipment able to detect explosives in LAGs containers is expected to be installed at most airport security checkpoints by 2012.
