Airfreight security requires balance between security and facilitation: ICAO Council president

ICAO Council president Dr Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu said (27-Jul-2016) the effective implementation of air cargo security measures requires the right balance between security and facilitation. Dr Aliu said ICAO and the World Customs Organisation must work to prevent delays, disruptions and financial losses which can arise due to lapses in air cargo security. Dr Aliu said: "We will explore ways of further strengthening the supply chain, encourage innovations in screening procedures and equipment, and do all that we can to support the move to electronic documentation and communication."
