Iberia provides fleet update; holds options on 32 A350-900s and 12 Boeing 787-9s

Iberia stated (28-Aug-2013) it holds options to acquire 32 A350-900s and 12 Boeing 787-9s, which it may execute upon achieving a "competitive cost base". The carrier also expects to take delivery of four more A330s and has options for an additional eight of the type, which are 15% more fuel efficient than the A340-300s they are replacing. Its first four A330s have complete "more than" 900 flights since Feb-2013, accumulating over 5000 flying hours. Iberia is also continuing refurbishment of its A340-600 fleet, equipping them with new cabin interiors and unspecified new services in business and economy class. [more - original PR - Spanish]
