IATA: Strategic partnership agreement with Russia; talks with President Medvedev

IATA and the Russian Ministry of Transport signed (20-Nov-2009) an MoU formalising a strategic partnership. The MoU outlines specific areas of cooperation with a focus on safety, security, technology, airport infrastructure, air navigation, ground handling and training. IATA Director General & CEO, Giovanni Bisignani, also met with Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, to discuss areas of cooperation between IATA and the Russian Federation.

Specific points addressed between Russia and IATA included:

  • Improving safety;
  • Simplifying the Business;
  • IATA e-freight;
  • Infrastructure charges;
  • Bilateral arrangements;
